Week 11 Hitter Rankings

Sometimes fantasy sports can be a cruel game of poor timing and those who draft Jacoby Ellsbury last season must be cursing his name this year as a rib injury cost him basically the entire season, but this year he’s one of the top five outfielders in fantasy baseball. Much was made of where Ellsbury would hit in the Red Sox lineup but after Carl Crawford had such a poor start, Ellsbury was a shoe-in for the leadoff spot and has been terrific atop the order.

What probably surprises many fantasy owners is that Ellsbury has seven home runs already this season, and he looks set for at least 15 on the year. Couple his power with a high run total, batting average over .300 and one of the leagues best base stealers in the game and it looks like Ellsbury could put together a career year.

While Ellsbury his enjoying success, we have a few new rookie names on this weeks rankings that are looking to produce as well. Padres first baseman Anthony Rizzo and Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas finally got their callups to the pros a few days ago and both hit their first major league home runs on the same day.

Of the two, I think Rizzo will probably have more statistical success but Moustakas has more fantasy value because he plays at third base and that is a thin position for talent this year.

Rookie shortstop Dee Gordon also makes the list as the Dodgers plan on using him as an everyday starter and if he continues to play well he should keep the job when Rafael Furcal is back from injury. Los Angeles needs a spark plug player at the top of their order and Gordon can provide that as he has some of the best speed in the majors already.
