The NFL Season Awaits

Many Americans recently celebrated the end of the NFL lockout almost as if it were Christmas come early. The fact is, Americans rely on football… it is one of our most popular sports, and occupies people’s time and emotions in various ways during the fall and winter seasons. So, in the spirit of welcoming in what is sure to be another great season of professional football, it’s time to do two things: set yourself up with for watching games, and get your fantasy football league going!

If you consider yourself an enthusiastic or passionate NFL fan and you have never yet looked into Direct TV’s “NFL Sunday Ticket” package, it’s probably about time you realize what you’re missing out on. On a given Sunday game day, you may be treated to about seven or eight games with a basic cable package, at the most… generally, the best games or the games closest to your area, will be showed on a few channels throughout the day. With NFL Sunday Ticket, you basically gain access to every single game – up to fourteen of them every Sunday – and you can adequately quench your thirst for football action. It doesn’t get a whole lot better than watching all the football you want from the comfort of your own couch!

Now, with regard to getting your fantasy league up and running, there are a few things that you will probably want to consider this year that are not the same every season. Thanks to the lockout, the NFL offseason (or at least the time period during which teams have been allowed to sign or trade players) was greatly shortened this year, meaning that a number of significant transactions happened in a very short period of time. During this period of time, a lot of things happened that could affect your fantasy strategy. For example, Plaxico Burress, newly released from jail, joined up with the New York Jets, while talented wide receiver Chad Ochocinco became a New England Patriot. Meanwhile, quarterback Kevin Kolb went to the Arizona Cardinals, and the Philadelphia Eagles improved in just about every way possible. Again, these are just a few examples of things to keep in mind when picking your fantasy team for the upcoming season.

Once you have your television package all set up and your fantasy team drafted and ready to go, you are just about ready for the NFL season. All that will stand between you and full enjoyment of a season of football will be your grill and a few plates of wings! It’s time to join America in welcoming back NFL football.
