Week 1 – TE Rankings
It’s time to be a little concerned about Dallas Clark’s ability to remain as a top five stud if Peyton Manning should miss an extended amount of time. It’s likely that Clark will be at least without his star quarterback for the first week or two of the season. With recent news out about Manning possibly having another neck surgery to clean up more work (would be his third in two years), it could be awhile before we see the super star back on the field.
We still have Clark as a top five tight end this week, but Kerry Collins needs to prove he can run this offense. Thankfully for Clark, Collins will likely look to his tight end for security when things break down, or he needs to beat the blitz.
Gronkowski / Hernandez Both Worthy Starters
While I have Aaron Hernandez listed as the eighteenth tight end, he has a nice matchup against the Dolphins. With Chad Ochocinco likely to not be much of a factor early in the year, Hernandez should pick up extra work, but Rob Gronkowski should be the top tight end for fantasy purposes, out of New England.
Owen Daniels Is Back
After watching the Texans face the 49ers week three of the preseason, it sure looks like Owen Daniels is ready to bounce back from his knee injury in the 2009 season. Matt Schaub should target his tight end for around five catches and a score in the opening week.
Please Note – Our rankings are now updated as of September 9th, and because the Packers and Saints have already played, we don’t have players from those teams listed. For injury updates, head over to the Fantasy Philosophers Podcast as Sean and Matt breakdown notable players.
