Trent Cole vs Giants

Linemen come and linemen go but one of the more consistent top producers in IDP fantasy football has been Trent Cole of the Eagles. I had to laugh when Cris Collinsworth kept questioning on TV, asking how long would the Falcons let one guy beat them, and that player was Cole.

In reality, with the Eagles adding linemen like Cullen Jenkins and Jason Babin, it’s hard to focus on one great player like Cole and chip him with a running back because you have a few guys that can hurt you. Some weeks the offense will give more attention to Cole, but either way, he seems to get the job done, and will finish as a DL-1 performer by years end, once again.

Justin Smith @ Bengals -

It a return home game for Justin Smith as he head back to Cincinnati and play against his old team. Smith looked dominant week one against the Seahawks with two sacks and I expect him to have a shot at multiple sacks again. The Bengals are suspect on the front line, and Smith’s hard nosed determination should allow him to make some plays on rookie quarterback Andy Dalton.

Greg Hardy vs Jaguars -

Solid week one and bad week two, that is the life of a linemen that fails to put up consistent tackle numbers, but Hardy should be good for a sack this week against the Jaguars. It appears that coach Jack Del Rio is going to stick with McCowen but I have to figure he will pull him again and go with the rookie. The Panthers should win this game as Cam Newton will get them to a lead early, and then Hardy and Charles Johnson can play the style of game, every edge rusher loves and that is meet you at the quarterback.
