Ask Sean Mailbag – Best Of Week 6

Mailbag Questions

1. RB Help – Stevan Ridley, Ryan Torain

2. Tight End Help – Pettigrew, Keller

3. Lineup Advice – Blount, Graham, Starks

Subject: RB Help

Do you suggest hanging on to Ridley?? Is Torain a safe start, meaning he’s going to get his carries? Non-ppr league, standard.

Hey Scott,

I would hang on to Ridley for now.

As for Torain, I have him as a top fifteen running back this week against the Eagles. Breaking down the film from the Rams game, Torain was solid and the offensive line was blowing open big holes. The Eagles are horrible against the run, and Torain is likely to see the bulk of carries. Get him in the lineup.

Subject: Tight End Help

What tight end do you suggest to keep for the rest of the season?? Pettigrew, Keller, Greg Olsen, Boss, Cook are all available. Do you think Victor Cruz is a safe start as a RB/WR now?? This is a non ppr league, standard.

Hey Mary,

I like both Pettigrew and Keller for the rest of the year. If I had to choose one, it would be Pettigrew. The Lions are one of the best passing games in football, and as we saw tonight, Pettigrew is turning into one of Stafford’s favorite targets.

Message: Lineup Advice

I’m struggling with my RB situation as Chris Johnson is on a bye, and LeGarrette Blount is questionable. Would you recommend picking up Earnest Graham to play this week or play James Starks. Only problem with picking up Graham is who to let go…Starks, Jackie Battle, or a wide receiver like Pierre Garcon or Anquan Boldin. Finally with my flex would you recommend Garcon, Boldin, or Marshall? I’m in an eight team ppr league.

thanks again

Hey Spencer,

At this time, what I can tell you is that if you need a starter for this week, it would be best to grab Graham as Blount is very unlikely to play this week and maybe for a few weeks. I have a quick write-up from today on Blount to give you an idea of what Coach Morris’s expectations are for him this week.

Because this is an eight-team PPR league, you should find decent receiving talent weekly, and I would cut Brandon Marshall at this time. Matt Moore can be good, and he can be horrible. Not sure which quarterback will show up, but the Dolphins are a very bad team right now, and it’s not like Marshall should be counted on for much against the Darrelle Revis this week.

As it says below, Graham is expected to get the bulk of carries this week, so if you need a starter go get him.

Battle is a hit and miss type player but worth holding at this time.

Bucs coach Raheem Morris hinted Monday that he doesn’t anticipate LeGarrette Blount (knee) playing Sunday against the Saints.

“I don’t want to rule (Blount) out, but I’m not looking at him. It is what it is. Next man up,” said Morris. “I’d like to get more detailed information on him. I’ll call him day-to-day for now.” The St. Petersburg Times expects Earnest Graham to receive “a bulk of the carries” against New Orleans, with Kregg Lumpkin and Allen Bradford also in the mix for work.

Not willing to drop a bench player. I have Philly D going Week 6. Do I drop Philly completely for a higher projected team? Im considering Buffalo D.

Give Philly one more week. It’s not like Buffalo has a great matchup.

Hi, i got Steven jackson and earnest Graham, I know that Jackson used to have great games vs gb, but the rams are like 0-4 vs the actual champ 5-0, and earnest is going to have great numbers since LeGarrette is out or should I start Shonn Greene vs dolphins…

  • Sean Douglas

I understand that the Rams are against a tough defense, but Shonn Greene just hasn’t played consistent enough to bench a player of Jackson’s ability. The Rams have had two weeks to get ready for this game and while they could get blown out, I expect them to play better. As for Graham, one of my favorites from years past but again, I wouldn’t trust him over a talent like Jackson. Go with your star, as he’s fully healthy from his early injury.
