Week 5 IDP – DB Rankings

Finnegan, McCourty, Babineaux @ Steelers - 

The Steelers are quickly becoming a team IDP fantasy owners need to focus on for production opportunities. With a suspect offensive line and stars like Ben Roethlisberger and Rashard Mendenhall hurting, the Titans appear to be facing this squad at the right time, and consistent pressure from the linemen like Dave Ball, Derrick Morgan and even defensive tackle Jerrell Casey will allow the Titans defensive backs chances to make plays.

It’s likely at this point that Mendenhall will be a scratch, and Roethlisberger will play on a sprained foot, but he will have a tough time shredding off defenders and making plays. Because of this I look to McCourty as an easy DB-2 play, with Babineaux and Finnegan nice upside DB-3 options, as the bye weeks begin.

Dawan Landry vs Bengals –

If you happened to look at the box score between the Bengals and Bills last week, you would have noticed that both Bills safeties Jairus Byrd and George Wilson put up big days. Bengals’ rookie quarterback Andy Dalton has put the football up no less than 32 times (36 attempts last week) in his three full games as a starter.

Jaguars’ safety Dawan Landry had a huge game last week against the Saints, but in part, that had to do with the Saints aggressive passing attack and their ability to control time of possession. While Landry could be a hit and miss, he’s a respectable DB-3 play this week as the Bengals should move the football through the air, especially in the second half. It also never hurts to have a rookie quarterback playing on the road, for some opportunities to make an interception or a few pass deflections, because of poorly thrown passes, or poor route running, etc.
