Pierre Garcon @ Bengals -
Since Kerry Collins injury, and Curtis Painter’s promotion to the starting lineup, Pierre Garcon has looked like a new man. Forget about Garcon’s back to back hundred yard two touchdown performances and just look at the volume of targets he’s getting in the past three weeks, being ten vs the Steelers, and eight each of the past two weeks.
Beyond receiving an increase in looks, Painter’s arm has life to it, and the same can’t be said for Collins, a quarterback that retired this summer and was brought back at the right price by Colts’ ownership. The Colts won’t win a often, but they clearly will be in a lot of games this year, and that means good things for Painter as an emerging fantasy presence (respectable backup) and Garcon as a top twenty fantasy receiver. With Joseph Addai banged up with a hamstring injury, look for the Colts to lean on Painter and the passing game to win against the Bengals.
Stevie Johnson @ Giants –
While Stevie Johnson has been slow in recent weeks, we should have expected it in against the Eagles as Nnamdi Asomugha was lined up against him. This week, the Bills play a Giants secondary that actually made the Seahawks look like one of the better passing offenses in football.
If Charlie Whitehurst and Tarvaris Jackson can look good against this group, I’m willing to bet that Ryan Fitzpatrick will play well, and that means good things for Johnson.
A.J. Green vs Colts –
Last year rookie Mike Williams was the talk of fantasy with this break out season, and this year A.J. Green is doing his best to play at a Pro Bowl level. Green is clearly a high WR-2 play going forward and should be considered a matchup proof starter. Who knows if Andy Dalton will be the long-term solution for Cincinnati at quarterback, but he’s having a great rookie season, and Green is clearly the top option in his passing attack.
