Week 10 – Waiver Wire Pickups
RB: Roy Helu –
Another week, another Redskins running back on our waiver wire report as the rookie received the start and played the feature back against the 49ers and went on to rack up 14 receptions for over 100 yards in the passing game. Clearly a favorite target of John Beck, Helu has been the primary go to running back in the passing game for a few weeks now, but his ten carries for 41 yards encouraging as well.
Because of his active role in the passing game, Helu is worth trusting as a flex play in PPR leagues, but should be considered a risk vs reward option in standard leagues.
Ryan Torain has worn out his welcome, and it appears Tashard Choice is going to need some time to get his shoulder healthy, before he gets back on the field.
WR: Laurent Robinson –
We watched Laurent Robinson become one of Tony Romo’s top targets when Miles Austin was sidelined with a hamstring injury early in the season, and he continued to stay active, even when Austin came back. Now, Austin is down again for up to a month with a re-aggravation of his hamstring injury, and Robinson is a must add off the waiver wire.
Robinson will slide into the starting lineup and because of all the weapons around him he should see consistent single coverage. Fantasy owners should look to Robinson as a rock-solid WR-3 play weekly.
WR: Jacoby Ford –
Finally looking like the player we hoped to see this summer, Jacoby Ford is healthy and clearly, a favorite of the Raiders new quarterback Carson Palmer. With Darrius Heyward-Bey landing on the bench and Ford in the starting lineup, fantasy owners should look to the speedster as one of the better waiver pickups after his performance against the Chargers.
Because of his big-play ability, look to Ford as a possible weekly WR-3 play going forward as the Raiders will look to throw the football vertically with Palmer under center.
