Calvin Johnson vs. Panthers -
After a couple, hard hits that led to a mild concussion, it wasn’t clear if Calvin Johnson would be available for the Lions contest this week against the Panthers, but on Tuesday, Johnson passed his test and has the green light to play. While many fantasy annalists will likely make a big deal about Matthew Stafford’s finger injury, he should continue to play through the injury, and for fantasy purposes for Johnson, he should be just fine.
Johnson’s success mainly comes down to his personal health as we’ve seen him put up to five years at the receiver position on a team that failed to win a game back in 2008, and without Stafford for most of last year. Johnson will be matched up against a respectable corner in Chris Gamble, but he’s no match for the best play maker in football, playing at top level. Look for the Lions to bounce back at home and pickup a win with Johnson posting over 100 yards and maybe two scores.
Percy Harvin vs. Raiders –
Finally, Percy Harvin went through an entire game and from what I could tell, he didn’t miss anytime because of an ailment. While it appears, Harvin’s migraine problems are behind him, injuries have cost him time this year and driven his fantasy owners’ nuts. The talented receiver has yet to find the end zone but his six receptions and continued production on the ground, gives you enough value to start him as a WR-3 play in PPR leagues.
If healthy, Harvin could produce as a WR-2 down the stretch as rookie quarterback Christian Ponder clearly favored him in the passing game, and he continues to be one of the top options in the game plan, each week, to get the football in his hands. Expect Harvin to have another solid performance against the Raiders, as this could be the week, he scores a touchdown.
