Week 12 – PPR Flex-Play Rankings

Wes Welker @ Eagles - 

While I’m sure fantasy owners were disappointed in Wes Welker’s two catch performance against the Chiefs, the star receiver did say his knee ailment wasn’t the reason for the down game. Clearly, the Chiefs were giving Tom Brady problems for most of the game, and the solution to former Patriots’ defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel’s defensive scheme, was to use the tight ends, and use the running backs on the ground an on dump offs.

Welker’s two receptions came towards the end of the game as Kansas City made stopping Welker a top priority. Sure this was a bad performance from Welker, but it was the first time this year he had under five receptions in a game, and at least in PPR leagues, we should feel good about his odds to remain a top ten receiver down the stretch.

That said, I do have Welker down a bit for this week, as the Patriots will head out to Philadelphia, and Welker will matchup against the Eagles talented corners. The good news for Welker is the Eagles defensive back trio hasn’t played up to expectations, and he should at least be good for six receptions for 75 yards this week.

Darren Sproles vs. Giants –

Like Welker, Darren Sproles had his worst performance of the season in his latest game but that should stop PPR fantasy owners from using him weekly. Sproles has had no fewer than four receptions in any game this year, but it would be nice to see him carry the football over five times a week.

That may not happen with Mark Ingram healthy again, but Sproles is still a flex play in PPR leagues because of is activity in the passing game, and his big-play potential.
