Percy Harvin vs. Broncos - 

The Vikings planned on getting the football in Percy Harvin’s hands more, with Adrian Peterson out, and that is exactly what happened as he hauled in eight receptions and carried the football five times. Overall Harvin played his best game of the year with over 100 total yards from scrimmage and a second week with a touchdown.

Rookie quarterback Christian Ponder has taken a liking to Harvin as his top target in recent weeks and why not, as he’s clearly the best receiver on the team. Hopefully, you showed patience with Harvin as he struggled to produce like a start-worthy option for most of the year, as it looks like he’s ready to be a top fifteen receiver for the rest of the year.

I expect Harvin to have another solid performance, even though it is likely the Broncos will shadow Harvin with future Hall of Fame corner back Champ Bailey. Minnesota will continue to find ways to get the football in Harvin’s hands, and his shifty moves should serve him well in tight spaces against Bailey.

Plaxico Burress @ Redskins –

Clearly not the same player he used to be Plaxico Burress just doesn’t have the same deep speed he once possessed. Still, Burress can make plays and Mark Sanchez continues to favor him in the red zone, with seven touchdown catches this season. With his tall frame and long hands, Burress also does a good job of adjusting to the errant passes Sanchez has thrown consistently this year. Look for Burress to have another respectable performance against the Redskins, and he should be good for some end zone targets weekly.

Injury Notes Kevin Smith / Adrian Peterson -

While it’s probable that both Adrian Peterson and Kevin Smith will be inactive this week, I went ahead and ranked Smith to give you an idea of where he would be, if he played. Peterson would be an obvious start, if healthy, so I failed to list him in my early week rankings. Look for Toby Gerhart to replace Peterson, and a committee of running backs to fill in for Smith if both are out.
