A.J. Green @ Steelers -
Returning from a knee injury that held him out of the teams important division game against the Ravens, A.J. Green returned for over 100 yards against the Browns last week. Green just missed touchdowns on two of his three receptions, as early in the game, he got behind Joe Haden, but only picked up 24 yards because Andy Dalton under threw the pass.
When the game was on the line, Green stepped up for his team on a third-down play over the middle to beat Haden once again, leaping up in the air, hauling in the passing and running down to the one-yard line, for what would be a game-winning field goal.
It’s a play like that, that makes so many fantasy owners feel good (and Bengal fans) about this young receivers’ future, as he not only makes big plays, but he can do it when the team needs it most. To top it all off Green isn’t the distraction that Chad Johnson / Ochocinco was in his time with Cincinnati, so we won’t have to worry about crazy things he might do or say, that would get him in trouble.
This week Green will match up against the Steelers for the second time in a month. The first-time Green played them, he only had one reception but it was for a 36-yard touchdown score. On that play, Green suffered the knee injury that cost him time against the Ravens, but fantasy owners should expect Green to be a full go this week.
Thus far, most teams that face Green haven’t had an answer to stop him, and it will be interesting to see how the Steelers game plan both Green and Dalton the second time around. Despite the tough matchup, Green is at least a WR-2 this week and should be considered matchup proof going forward, as the knee injury doesn’t seem to be affecting his overall production.
