C.J. Spiller vs. Broncos -
The Bills second year tail back has had an up and down four weeks as the teams’ starter, since taking over from Fred Jackson after he was lost to injury. That said, last weeks’ performance against the Dolphins was the kind of production that could have sent your team to the Super Bowl, if you had him in the lineup, as he rolled up over 150 yards of offense and scored two touchdowns.
Finally, Chan Gailey seemed to realize that big part of Spiller’s game needs to be as a part of the passing game, as he was targeted 12 times for nine receptions last week. This was up from an average of a mire four targets per game in his first three starts for an average of three receptions a game. Why it took the coaching staff so long to use him this way is beyond me, but based on Gailey’s recent comments it appears, we can expect this type of increased workload (in the passing game) going forward. Look for Spiller to have another productive game and because of a bunch of injuries to key running backs, he’s a worthy option to deliver you a quality performance as he should touch the football 20 times.
Demaryius Thomas @ Bills –
It’s fun when you start to see a young player coming of age and former first-round pick Demaryius Thomas clearly seems to be taking his recent opportunity as a starter to heart. Thomas has struggled with injuries in his short career but the past two weeks, Thomas has clearly been Tim Tebow’s favorite receiver with a total of 26 targets in that time span. After falling to the Patriots, the Broncos find themselves in a matchup that is theirs for the taking as the Bills haven’t won a game since week eight against the Redskins.
Ahmad Bradshaw @ Jets -
In this third game back from a foot injury, Ahmad Brashaw put together his first start-worthy performance, even if most of his production game in garbage time. Bradshaw did start for the Giants and had a couple of nice runs early showing a good burst when hitting the hole, but New York was just flat on offense throughout the game, and that sapped Bradshaw’s opportunities on the ground.
Couple LeSean McCoy’s three touchdown effort against the Jets defense last week, and the fact that Eli Manning and his receivers will be facing one of the leagues top pass defenses, and you should see Bradshaw touch the football up to 20 times in this game. Simply put, this is a good week to get Bradshaw back in your lineup as a flex play.
