Week 16 – TE Rankings

Aaron Hernandez vs. Dolphins -

With Rob Gronkowski having a record-setting season, it’s easy to forget that the Patriots have another talented tight end in Aaron Hernandez, but against the Broncos, it was Hernandez that had the big game. For the second time, this year Hernandez posted over 100 yards receiving and scored his first touchdown in the last six weeks.

While it’s unlikely that Hernandez will come close to his week fifteen numbers against the Dolphins, he’s clearly a top six tight end to start weekly, especially in PPR leagues. One receiver who could be a key, in Hernandez’s odds of continue an increase in his production, is the status of No.2 receiver Deion Branch. Not only was Branch inactive against the Broncos, but he failed to make the trip out to Denver so keep an eye on his progress, if you’re trying to decide on whether you should start him or not.

Brent Celek @ Cowboys -

What a game it was for Brent Celek as he posted five receptions for 156 yards and a touchdown against the Jets defense. Celek has been on the radar in the second half of the season, but with Michael Vick banged up his upside seemed limited, making him a likely candidate for your bench as a backup option.

Vick clearly looked like the quarterback we remember from a year ago on Sunday, and this week should be another high-scoring game against the Cowboys, on the road. A couple of weeks ago, we saw Jake Ballard have a productive game against the Cowboys, so if you’re looking for a starting option this week, take a look at Celek, as he could be sitting on your waiver wire.
