Julio Jones @ Saints -
In recent weeks rookie receiver Julio Jones has proven to be the Falcons new top big-play threat. This was what the Falcons had hoped for when they traded up to select him in the first round, and now fantasy owners should view him as a top ten play this week. Maybe it was just garbage time, but if you go back and look at some of the receptions, Jones was making in the fourth quarter against the Jaguars, you could see this kids confidence growing before your eyes.
Turning terrific plays look routine is the trademark of any great receiver, and while Jones still has Roddy White to contend with, it’s to his benefit for production as White is the receiver who has to deal with role coverage, as Jones gets more one on one matchups. This weeks matchup against the Saints should be another fine performance for the budding star.
Vincent Jackson, Malcom Floyd @ Lions –
In what may be his final season with the Chargers, Vincent Jackson has certainly taken his fantasy owners on an up and down carousel ride. One game Jackson can look like one of the elite big-play receivers in the league, giving you a 30 plus point performance, and then he can show up the next week with one receptions for 16 yards.
This week Jackson is a must start, even with this boom or bust ways because Philip Rivers is clearly playing better, and San Diego has one of the better pass friendly matchups, as they head out to Detroit and face the Lions. Just last week Darrius Heyward-Bey posted over 150 yards and a 43-yard touchdown reception against this defense, and Jackson should have opportunities for those kind of numbers.
Not only is Jackson a must play, but Malcom Floyd should have strong WR-3 consideration as he’s known for making big-plays and is coming off a solid performance against the Ravens. With their playoff hopes still on the line for both teams, this should be where both teams score over 35 points.
