Week 2 IDP Rankings – Defensive Backs
Photo By: Brett Davis / US PRESSWIRE
What looked like a promising second year in the NFL for Eric Berry turned into a nightmare against the Bills, week one as Stevie Johnson ended his season with a torn ACL on a low block.
Berry was back on the field week one against the Falcons and played in 64 snaps, but only accumulated two tackles and a pass deflection. Expect better production this week after LaRon Landry posted seven tackles and a forced fumble against the Bills last week.
I’m sure Berry will be focused and ready to unleash a little pent up frustration from a lost season on the team that cost him an injury. Berry isn’t a dirty player but Johnson better watch his six, because someone on that defense is coming for him!
Week 2 IDP Rankings – QB | RB | WR | TE | Flex | D | K | DL | LB | DB |
What Did We Learn From Week 1?
- Speaking of Landry, it was a nice return to the field for the Jets new safety. Landry was a stud when healthy a few years ago in Washington; while he’s healthy, we can safely look to him as a DB1 option.
- Yeah, it was funny to watch Kurt Coleman’s helmet come off when Trent Richardson barreled into him, but he did make the tackle. Coleman is in a good situation in Philadelphia and should continue to give you low-end DB2 numbers.
With the Eagles finally giving up on Jaiquawn Jarrett, Coleman should remain the starter this year.
Sean’s Watch List For Week 2
- Cautiously optimistic about T.J. Ward after a big performance against the Eagles, mainly because Michael Vick threw the football so much. The Bengals have the personnel to throw the football, but expect a balanced attack with BenJarvus Green-Ellis coming off a 91-yard performance against the Ravens.
Let’s see how the game scripts go and if Ward can continue to play at a high statistical level, without all the passing attempts. For now, consider Ward and up and down player, but he’s worth consideration as a DB3 this week.
- Keep an eye on Charles Tillman’s availability tonight. He has a good matchup against the Packers, but he may not go because of an injury last week. Tim Jennings is also a worthy starter at corner back.
