MJD May Be Out For Rest Of Season
What at first looked like an ankle issue that needed nothing but a tape job, turned into a Lisfranc foot injury for Maurice Jones-Drew. Around this time of year last season Darren McFadden suffered the same injury and missed the rest of the season.
It’s very likely Jones-Drew won’t be back until next season and that means Rashad Jennings is back in the mix as the starter. I was high on Jennings through the summer and while he’s yet to impress since coming back from a week one knee injury, he will be a feature back.
If you can acquire Jennings off the waiver wire, make him a top priority to go after.
Charles Woodson Breaks Collarbone
Huge loss for the Packers as Woodson is another key defensive player to go down for the second week in a row. Woodson is the Joker in the Packers defense as Dom Capers loves to move him around and his leadership on the field will be missed.
We should expect the Packers to continue to struggle in the passing game and without Woodson for six weeks, they will lose their best turnover machine.
Frank Gore Rib Injury – Full Practice
Gore had his best game of the season against the Seahawks but he suffered a rib injury towards the end of the game.
As of Monday it appears Gore will be just fine for San Francisco’s Monday night matchup against the Cardinals. Consider him a RB1 option this week as Arizona has had some problems against the run of late.
Chris Gamble Done For Season
Big blow to the Panthers defense as their one dependable cornerback is gone for the year. These are trying times for Carolina as their general manager stepped down today.
Expect teams to attack the secondary and this should mean good things for Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall next week.
Brady Quinn To Start
As a Dwayne Bowe owner I’m not a fan of this move, especially with Matt Cassel back at practice. Quinn needs to take more shots down the field and can’t be content with just “game managing” as he had opportunities against a weak Buccaneers defense but failed to attempt much down the field.
Hopefully we will see a more aggressive Quinn because if he continues to play as he did before the bye, Bowe may be headed to the bench on many teams.
Percy Harvin No Playing Full Compliment Of Snaps
Harvin has been battling some injuries but a reduced snap count is nothing to be alarmed about. We saw the Vikings use Harvin the same way at times last year.
At the end of the day, Harvin is still the top target in the Vikings offense and will get some looks in the running game. He will be just fine.
Roman Harper’s Problems In Pass Protection
Harper is a much better in the box strong safety so using him in deep coverage won’t be the best way to use him, and that was the case against the Buccaneers.
It will be interesting to see how the Saints use him next week in Denver because we know Peyton Manning will exploit him in coverage.
Trent Richardson’s Continued Rib Problems
The Browns rookie running back tried to give it a go against the Colts and was pulled in the second half. Consider him nothing more than a low-end RB2 in the coming weeks as the Browns are sure to use him in a committee.
