Week 7 – K Rankings

Photo By: Brace Hemmelgarn / US PRESSWIRE

It’s been a good year for rookie kickers and Vikings Blair Walsh is one of them. It didn’t appear we should expect much from Walsh coming into the season as Minnesota was projected to be one of the worst teams in football.

Outside of last weeks meltdown the Vikings defense has played well and with Adrian Peterson coming back faster than many thought after his injury last winter, Walsh has turned out to be in a terrific situation.

Despite the loss in Washington, Walsh converted on all four of his field-goal attempts giving him 16 conversions on the young season and only one miss. A long of 55-yards tells us the kid has a strong leg and kicking in a dome only helps his odds of long conversions, going forward.

What Did We Learn From Week Six?

- David Akers hasn’t been his usually dominant self of late as he missed two field goals last week. Don’t worry, he should get things figured out soon and has a good matchup against the Seahawks this week.

- Wouldn’t you know it. The Titans put together a good game, and Rob Bironas converts all four of his field-goal attempts. This was coming off of two straight weeks of not only being held without a field goal, but without an attempt!

Last week Jay Feely had a big game against the Bills, and Bironas should have fair results and makes for a cheep start off the waiver wire.

Sean’s Week Seven Watch List

- Mason Crosby continues to do little in the way of field-goal conversions. The Packers offense got back on track against the Texans, and Crosby figures to see little action other than PAT attempts.

- No matter how good the Saints are or how bad the Buccaneers are, we can count on a close game between these two, especially in Tampa Bay. New Orleans has had its troubles down in Tampa, and perhaps this could mean more field-goal attempts for Garrett Hartley.
