Week 8 QB Rankings

It’s been a long bye week for the Eagles but I actually like Michael Vick’s odds of putting up QB1 numbers against the Falcons. About a month ago we watched a struggling Cam Newton go into Atlanta and rush the football nine times for 86 yards and a score.

It would be wise for the Eagles to lean on the running game, but we know they will look to push the football vertically and Vick will get his opportunities in the running game. Vick is what his is, a quarterback who looks to run when the pocket collapses.

With Jeremy Maclin clearly recovered from his early-season leg problems, Vick has his full compliment of receivers to work with and should give us respectable points in fantasy leagues.

What Did We Learn From Week 7?

– It really doesn’t seem to matter who’s running the football in Indianapolis, Andrew Luck is the goal line back. Against the Browns, Luck only ran the football three times for twelve yards but two of those carries went for touchdowns. Luck only has seven touchdown passes on the season but his three rushing touchdowns keeps him a worthy backup on your roster.

– Don’t make Drew Brees mad. The Buccaneers gained nothing by running up the score early except forcing Brees to up his game and throw for four touchdowns and about 300 yards in the first half!

No problem with the competitive spirit Brees has, but when it transfers over to boy bands, that’s where I draw the line.

– Josh Freeman had a hot start and finish as the Buccaneers almost forced overtime against the Saints. In fact, it appears Tampa was heading for over time with a touchdown pass to Mike Williams on the final play of the game but unfortunately Williams stepped out of bounds and was the first play to touch the football when he came back in.

On the day Freeman completed 57 percent of his passes for 420 yards and three touchdowns. Only 24 completions, Freeman averaged 17.5 yards per completion and that’s just crazy! The Buccaneers have lived and died off the deep ball in the passing game and will continue to do so on the road against the Vikings next week.

Sean’s Week 8 Watch List

– Stafford has struggled most of the season and a matchup against the Seahawks will be one to avoid if you can. Then again, the Seahawks have had some problems with receivers getting behind them in recent weeks.

– Eli Manning should have a good game against the Cowboys, but don’t expect the big numbers we saw from years past. The Cowboys secondary is much better this year and we saw New York struggle at times in the season-opening loss to Dallas.

Manning should still be good for over 250 yards and a couple of scores as Hakeem Nicks will be in his third game back from injury.

– A big clash in Denver as the Saints will come to town. Expect big things from Peyton Manning even if he has another slow start.
