Week 10 – RB Rankings

Photo By: Steven Bisig / US PRESSWIRE

For the third-straight week Marshawn Lynch went over the century mark in the Seahawks victory over the Vikings. Almost 900 yards on the season, Lynch is one of the league leaders and it appears he has a shot to win the rushing title by years end.

Why not, as the Seahawks are tied to the running game as rookie Russel Wilson plays better at home but is not at a point in his career, where Seattle can count on him as the first option in the offense.

The Seahawks will stay at home this week and Lynch should be a lock for over 100 yards and a score against the Jets. Just keep an eye on Robert Turbin if he’s still on the waiver wire, because he’s flashed enough on the field to earn a heavy role if Lynch should go down with an injury at some point.

What Did We Learn From Week 9?

– Adrian Peterson is on fire and what looked like a tough matchup in Seattle turned into one of his better performances of his career with 184 yards rushing on only 17 carries. After five straight weeks of failing to find the end zone, Peterson has scored four touchdowns in the past three weeks.

– Doug Martin showed the Raiders how to Dougie to the tune of 251 yards and 4 touchdowns. An impressive day for sure and historic when you consider no running back has had three rushing touchdown from over 40 yards in a game, in the history of the NFL!

Then when you factor in that all four of Martin’s touchdowns came in the second half, we now can say Martin’s not only explosive, but he’s a player who can truly strike big at any moment. Not just a future elite RB1 in fantasy leagues, the future is now.

– Chan Gailey is going to drive fantasy owners nuts with this usage of C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. Both are talented enough to be RB1 options. Together they are hurting each other, but Gailey needs to find a way to get Spiller on the field more often than 29 times, which was the case last week.

Sean’s Week 10 Watch List

– Both Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson suffered apparent high ankle sprains against the Buccaneers. If both are out this week (likely) it will be interesting to see the workload of both Taiwan Jones and full back Marcel Reese. For now, we should like Reese as the better option to pickup off the waiver wire. He will be in on passing downs, and the coaching staff has expressed concern over Jones’s ball handling skills.

– Vick Ballard continued to see the majority of work in the Colts backfield last week. Playing against a Jaguars defense that gave up four rushing touchdowns to the Lions last week, Ballard is worth a flex play.

– Rashad Jennings has struggled to run the football, but he should have a good bet for over 100 yards rushing this week against the Colts.

– Isaac Redman stepped up and put together the performance I was hoping to see from him throughout this season, against the Giants. If Jonathan Dwyer and Rashard Mendenhall are out again, Redman is a worthy RB2 play against the Chiefs.
