Week 9 PPR – Flex Play Rankings

No one can deny that Larry Fitzgerald is a superior player to his fellow teammate Andre Roberts. Up to this point in the world of PPR fantasy football however, I’m sure you’ll find Roberts total points to be right about on par with Fitzgerald this season.

Both are top twenty scorers at the receiver position in PPR leagues. Not only is Roberts on par with Fitzgerald but other notable receivers like Julio Jones, Eric Decker and has outscored high profile names  like Calvin Johnson, Mike Wallace and Dwayne Bowe.

Question is, what are the odds that Roberts can continue the pace he’s on through seven weeks?

In my mind, the situation is there for Roberts to be a top 25 receiver in PPR leagues but it will be dependent on whether John Skelton can stay on the field. Kevin Kolb is not expect back soon, which means the team will have to turn to rookie Ryan Lindley as the starter should Skelton go down.

Much like Skelton coming out, Lindley has the physical tools to potentially be a starter or at least a respectable backup in this league. But with the worst par of tackles in the game, it would be up to the coaching staff to give him simplified reads and for Lindley to get the football out quickly to have a chance to hold up.

Even in that situation Roberts should hold his own as the Cardinals have used him regularly in the short passing game.

While Michael Floyd will be worked into the offense, Roberts is in no danger of losing his job after the production he’s put on the field this season.

Roberts has actually proven to be a better fantasy option when the Cardinals overall are playing poor football, because the team falls behind and they have to rely on the passing game, giving Roberts more opportunities.

While Fitzgerald is arguably the best receiver in football, it helps a receiver like Roberts thrive because of all the attention No. 11 receives at all times. Roberts is left in one on one matchups and has proven he can win on a regular basis.

Add it all up and we should at least target Roberts as a WR3 option to flex play to believe in this week as the Cardinals face off against the Packers at home.
