WK 12 – Team Defense Rankings

Any defense matched up against the Chiefs is a good fantasy start going forward. When you combine Kansas City’s anemic offense matched up against a Broncos defense that is ranked 12th against the pass, 6th against the run, with 35 sacks and 14 interceptions, you have one of the better matchups for week 12.

With Peyton Manning in town, Denver’s defense is enjoying the luxury of playing with a lead throughout most of their recent games.

When that happens, stud pass rushers like Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil can focus on what they do best and that is rushing the passer. While the Chiefs have yet to name a starting quarterback this week, whomever gets the call is going to have a long day, especially if Dwayne Bowe misses the game with a neck injury.

What Did We Learn From Week 11?

- As I’ve pointed out all year, when the Bills play well against the run, they are a worthy starting defense in fantasy leagues. This was the case against the Dolphins and for the second week in a row, rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill struggled. Buffalo will have a tougher task against Andrew Luck this week, but like the Patriots, they will have opportunities to force turnovers.

- Andrew Luck made some plays, but the addition of Aquib Talib in the Patriots defense last week was big. Talib took an interception to the house and it appears he may turn out to be just what New England has been looking for in the secondary over recent years.

That is an accountable No.1 corner that allows Bill Belichick to keep Devin McCourty at safety. Talib is a headache of a player to deal with in the long run, but it’s in his best interest to play well in New England if he wants to be taken seriously in the off-season. Expect top five production from the Patriots again this week.

Sean’s Week 12 Watch List

- Washington was matched up against rookie Nick Foles in the first start of his career and dominated. This week they will face a Cowboys offensive line that gave up seven sacks to the Browns last week. Consider the Redskins defense a sneaky start this week, against an up and down Dallas team.

- If rookie quarterback Ryan Lindley gets the start this week, consider the Rams defense a top five start. Lindley made some plays for Arizona last week, but he will turn the football over and give up plenty of sacks, as has been the case will all quarterbacks that have started for Arizona this year.
