2013 NFL Schedules

I find it interesting that the 2013 NFL schedule will kickoff with the defending Super Bowl Champs heading to Denver to take on Peyton Manning and the Broncos. While many of us will likely allocate our Sports Betting money to the Broncos side of this matchup (mainly because of home field, and all the turnover in Baltimore) it is a player like Manning, that should give us pause about what to actually expect this time of year.
Two Aprils ago, you would’ve thought any team scheduled to face Manning’s Indianapolis Colts would be in for a rough outing. Why not, as Manning had yet to miss a game in his career, but as we all know a neck injury cost him that season and the Colts were the worst team in the league.
While that is an extreme example of what can happen to a football team, we do know that about half of the teams that make the playoffs one year, miss it the next season.
Still, it’s fun to scour through the schedules at this time of year and even check the strength of schedule for each team, bye weeks, and the travel schedules for road games.
So while it may be a let down (as a 49ers fan, I really don’t feel that sorry for you Raven fans, just saying) for all of you Baltimore fans that won’t have a home game to kick off the season, it’s still just one game and unlike 2011, we can all be thankful to not have to wait through a nasty lockout, and know our teams will be playing regular-season football come September. Game On!
