Fantasy Football Outlook: We know Aaron Hernandez is a top five tight end for fantasy purposes. The concern for Hernandez has nothing to do with his play but more with health concerns.
Hernandez missed six games last year and has yet to be active for an entire 16-game season in his first three years in the league. Much like his fellow teammates Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola, it’s worthy taking a chance on this talented pass catcher as long as Tom Brady is the quarterback, especially in PPR leagues.
A versatile player, the Patriots like to move Hernandez around to create miss-match opportunities even lining him up in the backfield and letting him carry the football at times. Going off the board in the 5th round of 12-team league ADP trends, consider that more than fair value in standard league play, and he should be a 4th round selection in PPR leagues.
You will probably want to backup up Hernandez but the depth of TE2 talent is deep this season so you might even find good talent on the waiver wire, especially in leagues that only start one tight end.
