Fantasy Football Outlook: While the Vikings snatched Greg Jennings away from the Packers in free agency, they still needed another receiver in the draft after losing ultra versatile Percy Harvin via a trade to the Seahawks.
While Patterson is considered raw, all it takes is a look at some highlight film on YouTube to see he’s the most electric player in the 2013 draft.
A top five talent in dynasty drafts for sure, Patterson will likely fall out to the late rounds of most redraft leagues unless you play in a league that is friendly to kick and punt return performance. Patterson will make highlight plays throughout his rookie year, but with Christian Ponder at quarterback and the offense going through Adrian Peterson (not to mention tight end Kyle Rudolph and Jennings in the passing game) we should hedge our bets on Patterson hauling in around 40 receptions.
That makes him a better gamble in standard and or big-play leagues rather than PPR leagues. Truthfully, I will probably pass on Patterson in his rookie year but his upside long term could be a top 5 receiver in the game.
