Fantasy Football Outlook: The Bengals did more than just send Jermaine Gresham a message when the selected Tyler Eifert in the first round, they basically told him not to expect a second contract in Cincinnati.
While I think Eifert can be a TE1 for a long time, he might have to wait a few years before that production becomes a reality as Gresham is still under contract through 2014.
Expect Gresham to remain as the inline option and Eifert to move around the formation. It will be interesting to see who holds the better fantasy value in Eifert’s first year, but it’s hard for rookie tight ends to make a big impact so I would give the nod to Gresham until we see more in training camp.
As for early ADP results Eifert (18th, 13.08) is going ahead of Gresham (20th, at 13.09) but I think both are fair to take around that point in a 12-team standard redraft.
