Fantasy Football Outlook: Coach Belichick has a way of making things interesting at running back and driving fantasy owners nuts. While Ridley started the season running like a feature back, by seasons end his role in the offense shrunk down to more of a closer at the end of games.
No matter the role Ridley played well, although I will say I would like to see improvement from him around the goal line as he missed out on opportunities, almost weekly. We will see Ridley as the starter in New England again this season, as he seemed to do a good job holding onto the football and made a point to fight for every yard he could get.
Still the team traded for LeGarrette Blount during the draft and Shane Vereen appears to be ready for more work in the offense with Danny Woodhead gone. You never know if Belichick will bring in other running backs for a look but we shouldn’t overact too much.
Even last off-season the Patriots brought in Joesph Addai but he didn’t make the team. Going as the 15th running back off the board in standard leagues is solid value, but I would take him a little lower than that in PPR leagues because they will likely go to Vereen in most passing situations.
