2013 Dynasty Draft Cheat Sheet Fantasy Football
As one career winds down, another is just beginning as we can only hope DeAndre Hopkins is soaking up as much as he can from Andre Johnson as they work together this season. Johnson is still the top target in the Texans passing game and probably will continue to be over the next three years.
That said, I do expect Hopkins to play at close to a WR2 level starting in 2014, but for now we should have his expectations at a matchup play, bye week fill-in option. Unless the talented rookie develops a strong rapport with Matt Schaub in camp, we could see him fall to the fourth option in this offense behind Arian Foster, Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels.
Those of you that read my wide receiver dynasty rankings back in may know I had Hopkins as the top receiver to target. Unless we findout he’s not dedicated to his craft, has some serious injury or off the field problems, this guy is a future low-end WR1 down the road.
Probably the safest bet to draft from this years rookie class, you should ask for more than fair value back if someone offers you a trade to acquire his services. That’s typical return for talented young players in dynasty leagues any how as older players like Tony Gonzalez and others can be had at a value because of their age.
This will be an interesting season in Houston and I’m not sure Schaub will take another step in his development and might lose his job at some point. Likely he won’t but this franchise may be looking for a first-round pick quarterback in next years draft.
Either way, feel good about Hopkins being a integral part of what this team will do in the future and he should give a solid five to eight-year run, when he reaches his prime.
