Week 1 – 2013 Kickers (K) Fantasy Football Rankings

Just two years ago David Akers had one of the top performances of all time at this position in his first year with the 49ers. While Akers started off well last season, it was clear he was hurting down the stretch and the dejected look he had on the sidelines, at times, was a sign his confidence was shot.

This offseason San Francisco moved on from Akers and picked up Pro Bowl kicker Phil Dawson from Cleveland. Dawson will now takeover in one of the better situations for fantasy production and his nine field-goal conversions (two from over 50-yards) in the preseason is a good example of the workload we should come to expect.

The 49ers will likely be in just about every football game this season, and while Michael Crabtree won’t be with the team for most of the season, Coach Jim Harbaugh will find a way to keep his offense on track.

Expect Colin Kaepernick to move the offense down the field with regularity, but they will likely give Dawson two or three attempts weekly.
