2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Austin Collie came out of BYU as a mid round pick and wasn’t on the radar for fantasy coming into the season. It’s amazing how one injury can spark a turn of events to make unknown players fantasy relevant options.

In 2008 we saw a quarterback that didn’t even start a football game since high school take over for Tom Brady in Matt Cassel.

For 2009, Anthony Gonzalez went down with a week one injury and opened the door for Pierre Garcon and Collie to produce. For the season Collie had 60 receptions and seven touchdowns in the regular season. He even went on to be a big part of the Colts’ success in the playoffs.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: For all the success Collie enjoyed last season he will probably see a drop in production this season. Gonzalez is working his way back from his knee injury, and if he’s in good shape, Collie should be the Colts No.4 receiver.

Staying healthy has been a big problem for Gonzalez over the past year as even in June, he had a hamstring injury that is going to hold him out until training camp. If Gonzalez is at full strength coming into your draft Collie is a late round flair at best. If Gonzalez stays on the field for the entire season, Collie will probably be dropped by many fantasy owners by the end of the first month of the season.
