It looked like Antonio Gates might finally have a bad season coming into last year as he had a foot problem that had fantasy owners worried about his ability to last for a full season. While Gates only played ten games, he did more in that time than most tight ends do in a few seasons, as he put together one of his best runs in his career. Now, Gates looks to be at full health and his quarterback Philip Rivers has never played better.

I’ve seen various website value tight ends like Dallas Clark or Jason Witten higher in PPR leagues, but I hope no one looks to any tight end to spend more money on this year than Gates. Still in the prime of his career, this terrific talent should continue to provide your squad with top end production, and at times he can plays as well as the top wide receivers in the game.

After the top five tight ends are gone off this list you will notice that our price values take a big hit, and that is because the talent drops off from that point. It’s worth giving strong consideration that you budget enough money at the tight end position to acquire one of the top five listed below. One tip I can give you is not to wait until the final tight end of the big five is left on the board before you start bidding.

Other fantasy owners in your league will know that there are only a handful of top end players at this position and if theirs only one left on the board, it could cause a bidding war that would end up with someone paying top dollar at the position, and it probably won’t be Gates or Clark that your fighting over.

The dollar values below are based on a 200 dollar cap, so make sure you keep that in mind when going over the players listed below. We will have updates for this page and all our various rankings on the website throughout the summer.

Expect changes to this page towards the end of July as free agency is likely to start on July 15th and players are sure to move around the league, thus creating change in our values below. We will also update our rankings around the third week of the preseason as that time of the summer when the bulk of drafts start to take place around the web.
