2011 DT Player Rankings

Last Update – August 27th

With the obvious decline in Kelly Gregg’s play last season, Haloti Ngata took advantage on the Ravens front line by tying his career high in tackles (63) for a season. One of the better defensive tackles for IDP, Ngata will likely be the second best tackle in your league, as Justin Smith is only eligible in ESPN leagues, because they tend to be liberal with lineman eligibility between tackles and ends.

Darnell Dockett and especially Kyle Williams are close in value with Ngata, but I feel the big cat might actually have a career year if big, fat Terrell Sands starts opposite him, to help against the run. After the first seven tackles on this list, we have rookie Nick Fairley, as I believe there is a drop-off in talent from that point on. If you start a defensive tackle position, and miss out on drafting Ndamukong Suh, it’s a good idea to either take one of top seven on this list, or drop down a wait till the later rounds of your IDP draft.

To provide a balanced scoring system between tackle heavy leagues and big play leagues I have a kept solo tackles and assists at two and one but bumped up big play scoring by a point or two for each category. Make sure you check with your scoring rules before you draft to adjust for your league.
