RB’s

The times and style of play has certainly changed from the old days when real “bell cows” roamed the frozen tundra and the game of football was truly three yards and a cloud of dust. I started playing fantasy football back in 1991 and for at least the first decade of playing you could look to most of the stud running backs and expect that would get the football around 25 times a games as feature runners.

These days we see most of the top running backs carry the football maybe 18 times and pick up around three or four receptions a game. Many of these running backs can suffer from a physical, ground and pound running back picking up key vulture touchdowns around the goal, thus shredding the old “bell cow” label for the new normal RBBC situation.

Don’t get me wrong, not everything is bad in the world of running backs because with these smiler running backs, comes the explosion for the big play that can turn some of them into super star scorers.

Our running back projections below take into account not just each players 2011 projected stats, but each players upside, risk, weather factors, strength of schedule, style of offense and the team they have (skill players) around them. Throughout the summer, we will be updating this page because injuries, free agency and unexpected breaking news are constant and values are always in flux

.For fantasy player rankings beyond standard league play feel free to check out our cheat sheets section of the website for rankings in various league play. We will also have mock drafts available to help you get an idea of where various running backs are being selected in different league styles. We also have a PPR and Keeper / Dynasty rankings for running backs as well.
