IDP Fantasy Football Outlook: It was a heart breaker to see a great talent like Eric Berry go through a torn ACL and in the first series of the year no less. Because the injury happened so early, I like Berry’s odds of challenging for the most productive defensive back in the league.
Likely to be a long time top five defensive back for IDP purposes; Berry is worthy of one of the early DBs off the board and should have a fine year. Not only is he good for over 100 tackles but his skill set and role in the defense should allow him to make a respectable amount of big plays also.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
Eric Berry was a highly touted rookie for IDP fantasy owners to draft last summer and while he started a little slow, Berry went on to have a nice year. Totaling just under 100 tackles with four interceptions, two sacks, ten pass deflections and a touchdown, Berry was a clearly a weekly starting option as we moved deeper into the season.
Look for Berry to be as high as a top ten defensive back off the board on draft day this year, as he should continue his progression as one of the games better safeties. I expect Berry to improve on his one forced fumble has he will build on his overall strength and technique as the years continue. This is truly one of the games bright young players and that’s a big reason why the Chiefs selected him so high at the 2010 draft.
