IDP Fantasy Football Outlook: Jairus Byrd is a though nut to crack for me because he has big play upside, yet he plays from the free safety position, which I generally try to avoid. Byrd could hold solid DB3 value, but changes to the front line, and respectable play out of the linebacking corps, could kill his tackle numbers this year.
I’m probably going to stay away from him unless he falls outside of the top thirty defensive backs in summer drafts.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
Because the Bills are so lousy against the run, Jairus Byrd may have a chance to actually get back to around 80 tackles on the season, in his third year. My problem with Byrd is that while he was terrific in interceptions in his rookie year, he only had one last year. His fluctuation if a prime example of why it’s hard to trust defenders that tend to rely on making big plays to hold value on your IDP squad. If you must have Byrd on your team, draft him at the very end.

2010 IDP Fantasy Football Outlook
Jairus Byrd had himself a great rookie season as the ball hawked totaled nine interceptions on the season. While this was a great number of turnovers he only racked up 45 tackles in his eleven starts. If Byrd is going to be a more effective IDP option he will have to show improvement in this area.
