2013 Experience: 4th Season

Fantasy Football Outlook: After being one of the top defensive backs for IDP leagues in his breakout 2011 season, Chancellor had another quality season in terms of tackles. The problem was his big play production fell off the table big time in pass deflections and interceptions.

While I can understand he wouldn’t post four interceptions again, Chancellor failed to pick one off and his deflections fell from a respectable 13 down to only 4 on the year.

I think his numbers will get a bump and while 2011 was probably a career year in big-play numbers, his 2012 numbers are probably a low over the course of the prime of his career. Let’s view him as a DB2 to be safe and I think he will at least give us a fair return on value with the possibility of more, as the Seahawks pass rush should improve, forcing quarterbacks and opposing players to make mistakes.

2012 IDP Fantasy Projection

Someone asked the Seahawks general manager if they intend to move Kam Chancellor to a linebacker position this offseason. It was taken as a joke by the GM, but from a fantasy perspective, it shows you what people think of this safety. Chancellor has proven to be more of a Joker piece on the field, moving around to different spots and playing well.

I liked Chancellor as a breakout sleeper last year, and he didn’t let me down. Expect Chancellor to remain as a respectable DB1 option. He will play mostly in the box with Earl Thomas play the ball hawk roll at the top of the defense.
