2011 IDP Fantasy Football Outlook: While Marcus Trufant did play through a full sixteen games last season it didn’t come without his share of problems as he suffered back spasms at one point and then ended his season with a serious concussion (in the post season) against the Bears. Through it all Trufant went on to post 80 tackles on the season but only had one interception.
Furthermore if you look at Trufant’s numbers in his later years, his pass deflections have seriously dropped off from his early years and that’s why, at best, Trufant should be viewed as a No.2 corner for your IDP squad. I don’t see his health getting any better now that Trufant is in his thirties and to count on him as more than gap starter could be costly.
Then again, if you’re starting a corner position in your league, many young corners seem to breakout off the waiver wire, and you should at least stash one of those option, early in the season, and if Trufant is injured, go with the youngster.

Marcus Trufant hasn’t been the same cornerback of late because of back problems but it looks like he’s in good shape this offseason. The veteran corner could have a decent year as offenses may test him early to see if he’s truly recovered.
