Terence Newman
Terence Newman | Dallas Cowboys | Corner back
2011 IDP Fantasy Football Outlook: Don’t look to Terence Newman as a draft-worthy option this summer as a early camp groin injury will cost him four to six weeks. Sure, he will likely get on the field by the start of October, but a groin injury can be problematic especially for a corner back as they rely on cutting and using a burst of speed, throughout a game.
This isn’t a good sign for the Cowboys odds of rebounding in the secondary, so this could help set the stage for Dallas to get into shootouts weekly. Newman might be worth picking up after we watch him for a few games, but because of his name someone in your league may stash him or pick him up early. Their are plenty of fish in the sea that come out of nowhere at defensive back and especially corner every year, so be willing to pass on the veteran.

June 2011
One of the big letdowns for the Cowboys was their horrible play in the secondary as it was clearly that Terence Newman had lost a step. The Cowboys are hoping to get one more good year from the veteran and IDP fantasy owners shouldn’t be surprised if opposing offenses attack Dallas’s cornerbacks once again.
While that’s not great for Dallas as a team, it is good for Newman’s IDP fantasy value as he figures to make for a decent addition to your squad this season. Newman has always been good at racking up a high percentage of his tackles being the solo variety as he 77 of his 70 tackles from a year ago was on his own. If you can get Newman as a No.4 defensive back or a No.2 corner at your draft he is worth the selection. Other than that, he could regress back to his usual lower tackle numbers if he should bounce back this season, and that would make him an unworthy option to start.
2010 IDP Fantasy Football Outlook
Terence Newman has never been the great source for tackles in his career but he does make plays. This makes Newman a better option for Big Play IDP than the traditional tackle-heavy leagues.
