2012 Experience: 2nd Season
IDP Fantasy Football Outlook: Brooks Reed took over for Mario Williams after the star linebacker was lost for the season. Reed played well and has likely earned a starting job, but I have to wonder whether he will lose out on time to first-round pick Whitney Mercilus.
Mercelus has been impressive in camp, and his time on the field will likely crush any fantasy value Reed had. This is an option to stay away from at this point.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
The hype is on as it seems comparisons of Brooks Reed to Clay Matthews are getting out of hand. At the end of the day I believe Reed will be an impact play for the Texans but I don’t believe he’s ready to be a starter in big play IDP fantasy leagues. Connor Barwin should split some time with him as Mario Williams will man the other outside linebacker position.
What happens to Brian Cushing you ask? Well he’s moving to the inside and will be a top ten linebacker to take on draft day. Reed on the other hand is a bench option to start the season, and should be viewed as a spot starter in big play leagues.
