2012 Experience: 6th Season

IDP Fantasy Football Outlook: After a breakout 2010 campaign, Lawrence Timmons killed fantasy owners as he was a top five pick at the linebacker position and was kicked to the outside at times last year. With James Farrior gone, Timmons should be a lock to remain on the inside.

An LB2 value, if Timmons burned your team last year, it’s understandable if you don’t touch him. Still, he’s in a situation that can put him right back into a consistent LB1 producer.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections

It was put up or shut up time for Lawrence Timmons last year and boy did he put up as he was dominant against the run and has landed himself a top five ranking at linebacker for IDP leagues. Timmons finally became the inside force I was hoping he would be for a couple seasons now and it looks like he’s ready to make a major impact in the middle for a great defense.

The Steelers let their linebackers do most of the finishing off of plays when it comes to making a big sack or just finishing of a poor attempt at trying to run the football against them. Timmons has averaged five sacks a season over the past three years and his ten pass deflections helps him out in big play leagues, setting him apart from other top ten linebackers like Curtis Lofton. This should be another strong year for Timmons as he looks to be in the early part of a nice career in the middle for Pittsburgh.

2010 IDP Fantasy Football Outlook

Lawrence Timmons was plagued by ankle problems in his first season as a full time starter. At least the young talent ended the season strong to provide hope for the future. With Farrior on the decline and 35 years old, Timmons makes for a nice value pick for IDP leagues this season.
