Luke Kuechly | Carolina Panthers | LB
2013 Experience: 2nd Season
Fantasy Football Outlook: While J.J. Watt should be the first overall IDP player off the board in redraft leagues (and dynasty drafts) it is Kuechly that will be the top linebacker ranked on many draft sheets and expert rankings this summer.
Well deserved as Kuechly excels in pass coverage and proved to be the stud middle linebacker we hoped he would develop into, and did so as a rookie. Unlike Bobby Wagner who seemed to have the middle locked up before training camp began in Seattle, it wasn’t a given Kuechly would start inside in his rookie season.
We figured he would play on the weak-side but in time it proved out that the Kuechly was the real deal and the coaching staff was ready to give him his traditional role.
My only concern for Kuechly could be if Thomas Davis and Jon Beason both stay healthy; they may dip into his overall tackle numbers. That said, the upgrades at the tackle spots should help Kuechly as they take care of the trash in front of him and let him fly around the field.
Already labeled as one of the better instinctive linebackers in the game, this guy should be one of the best in the business for a long time to come.

2012 IDP Fantasy Projection
One player is standing in the way of Luke Kuechly holding regular LB2 value and that is Jon Beason. Don’t expect this talented veteran to give up the middle without a fight and is coaches have already informed us that Beason will be at his normal position.
If Beason some how recovers from his Achilles injury to play close to the linebacker we saw previous to the injury, he will stick. If not, expect Kuechly to work his way into the middle as the season moves along.
As it stands, Kuechly will be a three down linebacker and is a high end LB3 on draft day. For dynasty leagues, he should be the first IDP rookie off the board.
