2011 IDP Fantasy Football Outlook: Shaun Phillips has taken on the top pass rusher role left behind by Shawne Merriman and is a worthy addition in Big Play IDP Leagues. The Chargers are talking about reducing his snaps but it’s in an effort to keep him fresh so that he’s more effective in blitzing situations. Don’t look to Phillips as an option in most tackle heavy leagues as he won’t rack up enough tackles.

Shaun Phillips has been a productive outside linebacker with the Chargers for a few years now. Phillips always seems to be a steady source of sacks throughout the season and last year he had a ridiculous seven forced fumbles. Still, this linebackers is best suited for Big Play IDP fantasy football leagues because he doesn’t rack up a bunch of tackles every year.
