Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections

Just look to James Anderson of the Panthers as an example of a strong-side linebacker that had IDP success on a John Fox team, to believe Von Miller can get it done. I’m not bullish on Miller because he’s a strong-side option, but the Broncos are expected to move him around at times and he should make for a better option in big play IDP leagues, if he can get to the quarterback in his rookie year.

While Miller is likely to go off the board at your IDP fantasy football draft, I wouldn’t go crazy on looking to him as a starter unless you’re required to start a strong-side linebacker in your league. Too many times we’ve seen linebackers not get the job done on a week to week basis from this position and Miller would be better served as a backup that earns his way onto your starting lineup.

The Broncos don’t figure to be a great team this year, and if Kyle Orton leaves, I have my doubts if they can win more than four games on the season. If the Broncos get too far behind their opponents the sack opportunities will go down, thus hurting Miller’s IDP stock. Again, I’m not saying Miller isn’t worth drafting but temper your expectations for him in year one.
