Will Witherspoon | Tennessee Titans | Linebacker
2011 IDP Fantasy Football Outlook: It appears likely that Will Witherspoon will get a crack at the Titans middle linebacker position with the expected departure of IDP stud Stephen Tulloch heading to another team in free agency. Tulloch was a monster last season in the middle for the Titans and if Witherspoon can hold up, he may return to over 110 tackles on the season.
That shouldn’t be too far away from reasonable as Witherspoon posted over 90 tackles while on the outside lasts season and with the Titans projected to be a losing team this year, the defense will be on the field often, as opposing offenses attempt to run the football late in games. This makes Witherspoon and great sleeper / value pick if he does nail down the starting job in the middle.
8/2011 Update – With the signing of Barrett Ruud, Will Witherspoon won’t get a crack at the starting middle linebacker job, as I originally hoped. This knocks Witherspoon out of contention as a late round option on draft day.
