B.J. Raji | Nose Tackle

2011 IDP Fantasy Football Outlook: Playing in an aggressive defense helps make B.J. Raji an option for at least big play IDP leagues because he can penetrate the gap and get to the quarterback for sacks. With around 40 tackles last season, Raji is worthy of looking at if you need to fill a required tackle position in your league and especially if you have to start two of them.

I’m not sure Raji will repeat his sack production this season so while some may fall in love with him because of the team he plays for and his success in the post season, you shouldn’t look to him until the late rounds of your draft, and only in the league structures I outlined above.

2010 IDP Fantasy Football Outlook

B.J. Raji had a disappointing rookie season after he was a top ten selection at the 2009 NFL draft. Getting into camp a little late and only starting one game for the season definitely had something to do with his let down, but he should bounce back in his second year. With defensive end Johnny Jolly suspended for the season Raji will have to step his game up to help stop the run. Look for Raji to produce a better tackle out put in his first year as the teams starting nose tackle.
