Bruce Irvin | Seattle Seahawks | DL
2013 Experience: 2nd Season
Fantasy Football Outlook: A four-game suspension and additions of Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril put a damper on dynasty owners with Irvin. The young lineman had eight sacks in his rookie season in sub-package play but only posted 16 total tackles on the season with 9 of those being solos.
Not good enough for IDP, and he won’t be much more than a sub-package player in 2013 so avoid him in drafts. If the Sehawks should suffer a few injuries or Chris Clemons comes back slow from his knee injury, it might be a good idea to look at Irvin as a waiver wire pickup before he comes back to the team in October.

2012 IDP Fantasy Projection
My knee-jerk reaction about the pick of Bruce Irvin was that he was a good selection, but better at the end of the first round. Then again, as a 49ers fan I watched my team draft Aldon Smith as a top ten pick and look how he turned out in a sub package role.
Luckily for Irvin’s IDP value he has defensive line eligibility where as Smith was only a linebacker. Expect Irvin to make an impact in pass rush as a rookie, and eventually he should land a starting job. For now he’s only a matchup play as a DL4, but he could have a Carlos Dunlap type rookie season, and that makes him a decent backup on your team.
For rookie dynasty leagues Irvin is worth your consideration as a top five lineman at his position.
