Chandler Jones | New England Patriots | DE
2013 Experience: 2nd Season
Fantasy Football Outlook: Jones had a solid first have of his rookie year but he clearly hit the rookie wall in the second half and was useless to fantasy owners. Unfortunately some of you may have stuck with him for awhile and that’s understandable because of his situation, talent, and his production early on.
This year should be a different season and I like his odds of jumping into the top ten at his position for IDP league production. I was impressed with Jones burst off the ball and his ability to bend the edge in preseason games last year.
I also think he’s got enough range to track ball carriers down from behind at times and pickup tackles that way. When he’s ready, Jones has the tools to be a future top five at his position but as we’ve seen with lineman over the years, it can take many into their third or fourth season before they gain enough snaps to max out.
Then again, look at Jason Pierre-Paul and J.J. Watt both had monster breakout years in their second seasons. Don’t know that Jones will have those numbers but he’s a good bet for a nice breakout year, and a weekly starter who can make an impact.

2012 IDP Fantasy Projection
An interesting selection from the Patriots, suggest they will continue with a multiple look on defense, with a 4-3 scheme. Chandler Jones will likely play some outside linebacker, but we should expect him to stay with a hand on the ground and rush the passer most of the time.
This could be a good situation for Jones, but his tackle numbers will be low in his rookie year. Take him no higher than a DL4 this year in redraft leagues. In rookie dynasty drafts, Jones is worthy of a top five selection at his position.
