DeMarcus Ware | Dallas Cowboys | DE
2013 Experience: 9th Season
IDP Fantasy Football Outlook: In what figures to be an interesting season for DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer, IDP fantasy will be forced to decide where these converted linebackers to defensive ends should be drafted.
The Cowboys are switching from being a long time 3-4 base defense to a 4-3 defense for the first time in Ware’s career. You can bet opposing teams will pound the football at Ware and Spencer on early downs to test them against the run and tire them out for predictable pass-rushing downs.
I’m concerned for Ware’s ability to hold up through the season, as he will take a pounding against opposing teams in run situations. He should be a solid DL2 play through the first half of the season, but keep an eye on him during the second half to see if you hear anything about him slowing down. That said, he could be a DL1 producer because of his pass-rush abilities and because he will get opportunities for tackles as teams target him.

Summer of 2012: Fantasy Projections
In Rob Ryan’s scheme, DeMarcus Ware is asked to drop into coverage at times, mainly because they like to be multiple on defense and deceive the offense. Judging by his sack total last year (19.5) he’s still a dominant pass rusher.
Because of the scheme, Ware may continue to lose out on tackles, but he’s still a LB3 as he plays in a pass happy division.
Upgrades in the secondary could make Ware even more dominant, and that is a scary thought has he has the skill set to break the all-time sack record. The way quarterbacks are throwing the football today, that just might happen.
Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
The Cowboys overall had a bad season, but you wouldn’t know it if you looked at DeMarcus Ware’s stats. For the second time in Ware’s career, he went over 15 sacks for the season and provided a respectable 66 tackles for an outside linebacker. Ware is at the peak of his career and at age 29, there’s no reason to believe he will slow down any time soon.
Heck if it wasn’t for Ware being carted off with his neck injury in 2009, he would probably have at least 14 sacks in each of his past four seasons, and he will do that once again in 2011. Ware has value in tackle heavy leagues just make sure he’s getting fair point value (let’s say four points a sack) to make him an option worth having if you start three linebacker in those scoring leagues. For big play IDP leagues, Ware is an obvious choice to draft, as he will probably lead the NFL in sacks once again.

2010 IDP Fantasy Football Outlook
If DeMarcus Ware can stay healthy over his career than he should have a good shot at being one of the greatest sack men of all time. Last year Ware posted eleven and that was his second worst amount for a season in his career. Expect Ware to have around 15 sacks in any season and be a good linebacker for Big Play IDP leagues.
