2012 Experience: 3rd Season
IDP Fantasy Football Outlook: Ok, so Derrick Morgan had another disappointing season in 2011, but we should have seen it coming when he was slow to come back in training camp from his ACL tear. The Titans were going through a new coaching staff and with Jason Babin was gone in Philadelphia, Morgan wasn’t ready to capitalize.
This offseason the coaching staff has still backed Morgan, and believe he can be the impact defensive end they hoped he would be as a top selection a couple of years ago.
With Kamerion Wimbley coming over from Oakland and playing with this hand down, opposing teams will likely look to chip the veteran, leaving Morgan open for one-on-one opportunities. Couple his first full season to condition at full health, and a steady veteran on the opposite bookend and I like Morgan’s odds for a breakout year.
Unless you draft late, and Morgan flashes in the preseason, you should be able to grab him as a DL4 this summer. Consider that solid value for a player with upside to be a respectable DL2 in the future.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
Ultra talented Derrick Morgan suffered a torn ACL and only played in four games in his rookie year. With Jason Babin gone, Morgan is in-line to be a breakout sleeper for IDP fantasy leagues. Many times I’m skeptical about players returning from an ACL injury but those players who suffer the injury in the early portion of the season before, have a much better chance of making a difference.Unlike fellow, first round defensive end from 2010 Brandon Graham who suffered his torn ACL towards the end of the season and is unlikely to be ready for week one.
New defensive coordinator Jerry Gray will run the same defensive scheme that Morgan ran in college, and he will use Morgan all around the front line for matchup purposes. As long as Morgan looks to have his burst back at the line this summer, I suggest you look to him as a great late round selection to add on your squad. Maybe it would be a good idea to keep him on the bench to start the year, but he may be in your starting lineup before long.

2010 IDP Fantasy Football Outlook
Hopes are high with the Titans’ coaching staff that first round pick Derrick Morgan can make a big impact in his rookie season. Unfortunately, Morgan’s OTA work in camp was filled with injuries and the team finally shut him down to get ready for July camps. If Morgan can stay healthy he should win the job left by KVB. At this time, Morgan is nothing more than an interesting sleeper to nab up off the waiver wire.
