2012 Experience: 9th Season
IDP Fantasy Football Outlook: Like many low tackle defensive ends, Jason Babin struggled at times, but finished the season strong totaling 18 sacks. Babin is in a perfect scheme, with Trent Cole as the other bookend in the pass rush, but what impressed me is Babin proved he could succeed when the Eagles minimized their use of the wide-9 technique at the end of the year.
In an age of football that has seen more passing than ever, it’s likely Babin can return to his lofty total from a year ago. A respectable DL2, Babin is one of the better big-play dependent lineman to select.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
Speculation has Jason Babin landing with the Eagles once again as his former Titans line coach is now with Philadelphia. 2009 first round pick Brandon Graham won’t be ready to take on a regular job opposite Trent Cole, and he may not be ready to even start the season as he recovers from a knee injury.
Babin was outstanding a season ago and would clearly be used differently this time around, if he does end up going to the Eagles. While I find his 12.5 sacks from a year ago to be a career year, he should be a worthy option to use as a starter for IDP fantasy leagues, even if he plays on the same team as Cole. The Eagles love to play an aggressive style of football and Babin would fit in well with this group.
If Babin should land elsewhere I would imagine he would be used in a 4-3 style defense and would still give fantasy owners a start worthy option to begin the season. Just don’t look to him as a top ten for defensive lineman as he needs to show us he can come close to ten sacks, and 50 tackles once again.
